Technological Centre for the Security of Metro

Metro Istanbul carried out “Security Surveillance Centre” for secure travel for the people of Istanbul and this centre renders 24/7 service with almost 7 thousand cameras and hi-tech equipment. New generation technological equipment provides the ability to monitor 9 rail system lines in eight command control rooms.

In order to provide secure and calm journey for the people of Istanbul, Metro Istanbul continuously carries out its works. Within this framework Security Surveillance Centre (GIM) which was equipped with new generation technological systems was put into service in August 2018. This centre provides the ability to fast and result oriented interference for possible problems. There are 35 bachelor’s degree private security staff and 4 supervisors who are serving within the facility along with police officers.

Fast Detection in Suspicious Cases
Security Surveillance Centre was established within Yenikapi Metro Station predominantly for immediate detection of dangerous situations, abnormal functioning and suspicious activities. Security and operation strategies of all the rail system lines of Istanbul is monitored in this centre along with advanced utilisation opportunities for auxiliary purposes. Analytical monitoring will be in use with the help of smart software systems that are being worked on and planned to be engaged in the short term. These will help the real and perceptual security up to the highest possible level.

Mayor Imamoglu Inspected the Ongoing Works
Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem Imamoglu paid a visit to the Security Surveillance Centre in Kurban Bairam and inspected the ongoing works on site. Mayor Imamoglu was informed by the Executives about the activities of the facility and drew attention to the importance of the facility for the security of metro.
