Price Adjustment On Transport Fare Collection

UKOME has decided to make a new price adjustment due to the large increase in costs in public transportation fees that have not changed for about 3 years. In the new tariff to be implemented on Monday, February 10; full electronic ticket fare is set as 3.50 liras, student ticket fare is set 1.75 liras, Adult Blue Card fare is set 275 liras and Student Blue Card fare is set 50 liras.

Presided by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, UKOME (Transportation Coordination Centre) decided to raise the public transportation fees in Istanbul with the proposal of the Union of Chambers of Craftsmen and Artisans (ISTESOB) at the meeting on 6 February 2020.

In the new public transport schedule to be implemented on Monday, February 10; a full electronic ticket fare will be raised to 3.50 liras from 2.60 liras and a student ticket fare will be raised to 1.75 liras from 1.25 liras. Blue Card fares are also adjusted; Adult Blue Card fare is raised to 275 liras from 205 liras and Student Blue Card fare is raised to 50 liras from 40 liras.

The first transfer is set as 2.50 liras, the second transfer is set as 1.90 liras, the third, four and fifth transfers are set as 1.20 liras on Full Ticket Transfer Fares for rail systems and buses under the responsibility of IMM.

The first transfer fare is set as 0.75 liras, the second transfer fare is set as 0.70 liras, the third, four, and the fifth transfer fares are set as 0.60 liras.

Fares for City Line Steamboats and motorboats that are part of ticket integration are also subject to price adjustments and their fares are raised to 3.50 liras from 2.60 liras, from 2.70 liras to 3.65 liras and from 3 liras to 4 liras.

The transfer fares for sea routes are as follows: First transfer is 2.80 liras, second transfer is 2.30 liras, three, four and fifth transfers are 2 liras.

Increase On Fuel Prıces, Inflatıon And Mınımum Wage Are The Reasons Of Prıce Adjustment
There has been no increase in public transportation ticket fares in Istanbul for approximately 3 years since 25 May 2017. During this time, due to the increase in fuel, inflation, minimum wages and operating costs, public transportation costs rose by approximately % 43.

Raise on electronic ticket price rates is kept below the aforementioned reasons with the instruction of Mayor of IMM Ekrem Imamoglu and it is decided to not to reflect the increase in costs to the citizens.

Thus, while the citizens are protected, tradesmen providing public transportation services were also prevented from being crushed against inflation.

We hope that people of Istanbul will understand and appreciate this adjustment, which is compulsory for public transport services to be carried out without interruption.

MARMARAY IS INCLUDED IN ISTANBUL CARD FARE TRANSFER SYSTEM
Marmaray is operated by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and it is integrated to Istanbul Card Fare Transfer System with the decision of UKOME (Transportation Coordination Centre) which is put into practice today. Thus, citizens who have an adult ticket and use Marmaray after a public transportation vehicle will pay 3.50 lira instead of 7.75 lira and students will pay 1.70 lira instead of 3.50 lira. UKOME (Transportation Coordination Centre) is presided by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. UKOME decided to raise public transportation fees in Istanbul with the proposal of the Union of Chambers of Craftsmen and Artisans (ISTESOB) at the meeting on 6 February 2020. The decision came into effect today.

LESS FEES WILL BE PAID IN MARMARAY VIA FARE TRANSFER SYSTEM
Marmaray is operated by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and it is integrated to Istanbul Card Fare Transfer System. The decision is implemented throughout Istanbul, with the decision made by UKOME at the same meeting upon the intense demand from the residents of Istanbul. Thus, the residents of Istanbul will be able to benefit from the Marmaray via this system and pay less using this line.

The aforementioned decision provided benefits to public transport users. An adult-ticket user who gets to Marmaray will pay 3.50 liras instead of 7.75 liras, students will pay 1.50 liras instead of 3.50 liras and teachers will pay 1.50 liras after using a public transportation vehicle, Passengers who are using fare transfer system will not be able to receive a refund after use.

Let us give an example to see the difference when Fare Transfer System on Marmaray is not available. Let us assume that citizens are transferred to Marmaray, they use adult Istanbul Card, and they need to go in the direction of Halkalı (maximum 12 stops) they have to pay 3.50 to 4.50 liras after they pay 3.50 liras to metro. If they go in the direction of Gebze, (a maximum of 30 stops) they have to pay 3.50 to 7.00 liras for Marmaray and end up paying 7.00 to 10.50 liras for their entire journey.

According to the new fare tariff that includes the Fare Transfer System, a passenger who is transferred to Marmaray and use an adult Istanbul Card, pays 3.50 liras for metro after paying a further 3.50 liras for Marmaray Transfer. Total amount is 7.00 Liras regardless of how many stop he travels on Marmaray line.

Istanbul residents who travel to Gebze in the morning / evening can travel for 7 liras monthly (over 26 days) and save up to 182 liras.
