Metro Istanbul Carried 663 Million Passengers in 2018!

Metro Istanbul carries over 2 million passengers every day and broke the all-time record by carrying 663 million passengers in 2018. Metro Istanbul renders daily public transportation services with its 12 railway system lines reaching up to 154, 25 km in length. Daily services rendered by Metro Istanbul is equal to a 5 times round the world trip every day. Metro Istanbul carried 601 million passengers in the previous year and increased its capacity by %10 and reached to 663 million passengers in 2018. Biggest contribution to the capacity increase is provided by M2 Yenikapi-Haciosman Metro Line’s operation enhancement with 8 carriages in weekdays which provides a %45 boost to its capacity and engagement of the 2nd stage of M5 Uskudar-Cekmekoy Metro Line.

In order to provide more comfortable journey to its passengers, Metro Istanbul carries out platform extension, station renewal, and nationalisation of signalisation system works in all of M1 Line and these works along with the addition of 272 more vehicles into the fleet will also provide a %100 capacity boost. Metro Istanbul acts with the perception of rednering high level service in transportation, repairs and maintenance to meet the expectations and requirements of the people of Istanbul.
