The commissioning ceremony for the line that will pass through Sisli and Besiktas districts; With the participation of Republican People’s Party Group Deputy Chairman Engin Altay, Republican People’s Party Deputy Chairman Bulent Tezcan, Onur Adiguzel, IMM Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, Sisli Mayor Muammer Keskin, Besiktas Mayor Riza Akpolat, Kartal Mayor Gokhan Yuksel and Republican People’s Party IMM Assembly Group Deputy Chairman Dogan Subasi.
IMM greeted the New year with 3 major commissioning
IMM Mayor Imamoglu stated that they greeted the new year with the commissioning of Baltalimani Biological Waste Water Treatment Plant on January 1st, Mecidiyekoy-Fulya-Yildiz metro line on January 2nd and Dudullu-Bostanci metro line, which will be operational on January 6th. Sharing the information that the total investment cost of the 3 projects is 20 billion liras, Mayor Imamoglu said, “Those who do not invest in a healthy way and do not spend their money in a healthy way cannot win the hearts of Istanbulites. If they had the capacity to complete 15 kilometers per year instead of 5 in a 25-year period in the previous period – and there have been cities in the world that have achieved 25 kilometers in 25 years – today Istanbul would have been in a completely different position. But it depends on what you prioritize. In this respect, unfortunately, healthy steps have not been taken. All of a sudden, in a different way, they felt that they were late. Especially in the 2015-16 axis, many tenders were carried out. Unfortunately, many of these tenders remained on paper. This project was incomplete, financing was never considered. That's why we took over 10 metro lines that were stopped, not built and forgotten. Because of the ineffective system, they neglected their work, frankly because they forgot about the execution and only created a period when they only fostered political fights and partisan sentiments. They have abandoned Istanbul, so to speak, with their half-baked metro projects that they created far below what they could do, that they constantly extended the works and that unfortunately remained on paper”.
Metro Istanbul reached a network of 193,45 kilometers with 197 stations
Ozgur Soy, General Manager of Metro Istanbul, noted that the M7 line, which has 15 stations with a length of 17.2 kilometers, will reach a length of 19.2 kilometers and 17 stations together with the Fulya and Yildiz stations, and said, “We will serve a population of more than 3 million by passing through a total of 7 districts on our line. Our Fulya and Yildiz stations have a daily passenger capacity of 100,000. Thus, transportation will be relieved especially in Fulya and Yildiz, which are the regions with the highest traffic in Istanbul. Our passengers will be able to transfer free of charge by going to the opposite platform at our Mecidiyekoy station to go from Mahmutbey to Yildiz direction and from Yildiz to Mahmutbey. With the stations we commissioned today, as Metro Istanbul, we have reached a total line length of 193.45 kilometers with 197 stations”.
