Did you ever wonder how we manage to keep our vehicles and stations sanitised where we deliver 4.800 services to over 2 million passengers every day? As Metro Istanbul, using a fleet of 844 vehicles, we adopted the principle of rendering quality services to our esteemed guests in a healthy environment every time and we manage it with over 100 janitors.

People may wonder how public transport vehicles are kept sanitised because they are used very frequently on daily basis. Every vehicle is prepared for the following day when they finish their service and one of the stages of this preparation is the sanitation. Interiors, ceilings, bottom parts of the passenger seats, windows, advertising boards, passenger assist handles and bars, upper parts of the doors, sides of the windows, all the metal surface in the vehicle are cleaned with odorous and hygienic cleaning materials when the vehicles are taken to the service area after their services finished. Following this process floors are cleaned with a special detergent water and a special solution is used for removing the stains if it is necessary. When the cleaning of interior is finished the vehicles are taken to the exterior washing machines where they should be ready for service 5.00 AM at the latest. All these procedures repeated as a part of a routine every day. In addition to all these daily procedures, long lasting hygienic sanitation with special solutions carried out in weekly basis.
