88 Woman Train Driver Started Their Duty

Train driver trainings organised by Metro Istanbul is ended and 88 new woman train drivers started their jobs at Metro Istanbul after their training. Turkey's largest urban rail operator Metro Istanbul that is an Affiliate Company of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) organised train-driving training. 88 woman train drivers successfully completed their training that started in February and they started their duties at Metro Istanbul.

They were selected among 7500 applications…
Out of approximately 7500 applications made to train driving trainings initiated by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Metro Istanbul for women in order to increase women's employment, 124 women were entitled to attend the training. 88 women succeeded in their training after 3 months of hard training.

“We want women to be more involved in business life…”
Metro Istanbul General Manager Ozgur Soy, who came together with the woman train drivers who are inaugurated, pointed out that it was a great success to complete the training by choosing among 7500 applications. Indicating that 88 woman train drivers who successfully completed the challenging training process deserved an applause. Metro Istanbul General Manager Ozgur Soy said, “This program is one of the important initiatives of IMM. We definitely want women to be more involved in business life. We expect you to come to a much better and more important position especially at IMM. Train driving is also a very important profession, a gold bracelet”.

They were satisfied with the transparency of the interviews…
Stating that they have no doubts that they will be successful in applying for train driving trainings, woman drivers expressed their happiness for the interviews with them being transparent and applying with their own efforts without being supported by anyone and being assigned by their abilities.

Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem Imamoglu drew attention to the increase in the number of woman personnel in Metro Istanbul during his holiday visit.
